Volunteer Trustees (multiple roles)
Skelmersdale and District Foodbank provides emergency food and compassionate, practical support to people in crisis, while campaigning for a UK without the need for food banks. Without our volunteers, selflessly donating their time, we simply would not be able to support the thousands of people in crisis.Where: Skelmersdale and District Foodbank and surrounding areas.
When: Approximately 8 meetings per year.
Time commitment: 4 to 10hrs per month, depending on responsibilities
Overview of the role:
Participate in Trustee board meetings and along with other Trustees, by supporting the Chair, to ensure that the trust complies with all charity’s governing documents, charity law requirements and other laws that might apply to the charity and to ensure the trust complies with those required by the Trussell Trust. You will be expected to act in the charity’s best interest, including doing what you and your co-trustees decide will best enable the charity to carry out its purpose, based on making balanced informed decisions.
Manage the charity's resources responsibly, ensuring the charity's assets are used only to carry out its purpose, avoid undue risk and not over-commit the charity. To assist the board in developing a long-term strategy for the food bankKey tasks/Responsibilities:
• It will be necessary to work with the Project Manager in supporting them to achieve the vision/objects of the food bank and to ensure there is a positive and effective relationship between the trustee board, food bank staff, and its volunteers.
• To plan with the Foodbank Project Manager, an annual schedule of any subcommittee/steering group meetings and other key events which board members should attend.
• To work alongside the Foodbank Project Manager to ensure there is appropriate communication between the trustee board and staff, volunteers and any other stakeholders.
• To identify any training needs appropriate to the Project Manager and with the Project Manager agree training needs of the staff and volunteers,
