Tesco Christmas Collection

17th November 2018

We are calling for volunteers to help local people facing hunger this Christmas
Could you help with a food collection at Wigan Extra Tesco store?

Skelmersdale Foodbank will be collecting in the Wigan Extra store on Thursday 18th, Friday 19th November and Saturday 20th November. Last Christmas, the generosity of Tesco customers meant 5127 meals were donated to the Foodbank as a result of the collection. Tesco will top up customer donations by 20% to further support the foodbank so you can see that this supermarket collection is hugely important to our work.
To make this year’s collection a success volunteers are needed to hand out shopping lists to customers, so they can see the foodstuffs needed by our foodbank and to answer questions customers have.

“It’s easy to make a difference. We will do all we can to provide emergency support so local families hit by something unavoidable, like illness, redundancy or a boiler breaking, don’t go hungry this Christmas. However, to make sure we’re fully stocked ahead of our busiest month of the year, we need your support!

“The more people there are volunteering with us at the Neighbourhood Food Collection, the more food we can collect and the better prepared we will be to provide support to people who would otherwise face hunger this Christmas. In previous collections we’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of the community in helping us to help local people – we’d love to have as much support again this December.”
